Our
Story

With the profound effort of Lt. Biph Raj Subba & Lt. Mondal Takey Tshering Bhutia under the advice of all the villagers, the school was established in the year of 1949 & started to run since 11th January 1949. Lt. Kopkey  Dukpa donated a house to temporarily  run school until the new school building was constructed.

Though during that period it was very difficult to get an educated person in the locality. Nevertheless, the villagers were keenly interested in running the school to fulfill the desire of the time. Mr. Chandra Bahadur Rai of Chakung was appointed as a teacher & was asked to run the school in the evening from 7.00 P.M to 10.00 P.M to bring up the rate of literacy in the area.

As the school started to run smoothly, villagers consulted one another for a permanent place to build a proper infrastructure of a school. Consequently Lt. Takey Tshering Bhutia  was requested for donation of a land. He accepted the request and donated a piece of land.

The Govt. of Sikkim took over the school on 1st April, 1962. After the meeting that was held between the school staff & the school committee & they came to a decision to run school from nursery to class V w.e.f. 1st May, 1977. In the year of 1983 Chief Minister of Sikkim Lt. Mr. Nar Bahadur Bhandari  on tour declared as JHS and was allowed to run class VI. The school was upgraded to secondary school in the year 1991. Govt. of Sikkim purchased a land from Lt. Gyamji Bhutia for school to use it as a school ground.
